Three medals won at 2007 Atlanta NAC!
Great victories for TFC at the Atlanta NAC this past weekend: TFC fencers brought home 3 bronze medal!
Congrats to Jason Chang, age 13, earning his "C" in Div. III foil on Saturday, March 10, taking 3rd out of 119 in a C3 classification event.
Jason bronze medaled again the next day in an even tougher B3 event, the Div II foil, out of a field of 117 fencers, upping his "C" classification earned just the day before to a "B", an outstanding achievement for a 13 year-old fencer! Jason was the youngest fencer in the finals.
Congrats to Mark Wheeler (a few years older than Jason), who earned his "A" in the Men's Veteran 40+ Epee competition, taking 3rd out of 85 fencers in an A4 event. It was a comeback s tory for Mark. After only winning one bout in the pool round, Mark was seeded 75th. With determination and focus, he then managed to win all his direct elimination bouts up to the top 4. Mark says, never give up!
TFC is very proud of these fencers, who worked hard, journeyed far, competed so well, and achieved these fantastic results. We salute Jason's dad, Jonathan Chang, who narrowly missed the finals of the Mens' Veteran 40+ Foil competition. He was also busy supporting Jason's ascent to two bronze medals and cheering Mark on to the bronze. These fencers inspire the fencers in our club and division and make us so very proud of our sport.
